The 5 days of festivities for the 2022 Uganda Film Festival (UFF) kicked off with Film Exhibition Market, Film Trainings, Film Forums and workshops, Film screenings, and lastly, an Awards Gala night that went down last Friday, June 3, 2022 at at the Uganda Institute of Communications Technology.

The 9th Edition of the UFF2022 Awards Gala night returned after a two-year COVID-19 induced lockdown.
With the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) as the main organizers, the five day event highlighted and recognized the various activities carried out by the commission throughout the year. During the event, awards, cash prizes and other prizes were awarded.

The most important award which is “The Best Feature Film” went to a movie titled “Tembere”. Notably also was the movie “My Husband’s Wife” Produced and Directed by Ndagire Mariam for Best supporting Actress.

The Minister for ICT Dr. Chris Baryomunsi highlighted that Government departments related to the creative sectors are going to work together to see that this industry advances.

Dr. Phillip Idro of Operation Wealth Creation promised the OWC’s focus on the film industry development. He highlighted that effort is being made to have Bwebajja as a Center for the Film Industry. The festival showcased a lot on new talent and improvement in craft.

UFF 2022 was also graced by the presence of NCF big wigs lead by the Vice Chairman Charles Batambuze, various stakeholders in the Arts industry, Actors and actresses , directors among many others.
