Ugandans conservationists have joined the world to celebrated the prestigious photography awards of 2021.

This was after a picture featuring a mountain gorilla from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park made it to the top.

Taken by Majed Ali from Kuwait, made an outstanding performance that has left the world talking about the beauty of the Pearl of Africa.

“Ali trekked for four hours to meet Kibande, an almost 40-year-old mountain gorilla. ‘The more we climbed, the hotter and more humid it got,’ he recalls. As cooling rain began to fall, Kibande remained in the open, seeming to enjoy the shower.”

The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) Executive Director Ms. Lilly Ajarova stated.

In the same siprit, Mr. Bashir Hangi the Communications Manager at Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) also stated that the win is a true reflection of Uganda’s beauty.

“Congrats Majed Ali from Kuwait, winner of best portrait at this year’s Wildlife Photographer of the year Awards. His winning entry named “Reflections”, was a photo of Kibande, a 40 year old Mountain Gorilla from Rushegura family in #Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.” Hangi posted.
