Recent reports from the Uganda Police have confirmed a tragic incident during Lydia Jazmine’s concert held at Hotel Africana in Kampala on March 1st, 2024. An individual named Anie Bonus from Luzira in Nakawa Division lost his life in a stampede.
During a press briefing on Monday, Uganda Police addressed the incident, revealing that it occurred when authorities intervened to prevent Musician Grenade Official and his crew from accessing the VIP section, leading to a confrontation.
In the ensuing chaos, Anie Bonus fell and was fatally trampled by other concertgoers despite immediate efforts to transport him to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
Kimera Yusuf has been taken into custody in connection with Anie’s death, as investigations continue.
This tragic event echoes a similar incident earlier in the year during New Year celebrations at Freedom City, where over ten individuals lost their lives in a stampede organized by Abitex Promotions.
