Over the past decade, Deejaying has firmly established itself as both a creative cultural force and a viable career path, not some fly-by-night whim to be scoffed at.
In that spirit, we decided to shed more light on Deejays Slick Stuart and Roja ahead of their 8th Season of the MixTape party to get a look at what can change throughout the years and how to keep the career and Brand Sustainable.
Successful people keep stepping into a bigger vision of themselves, and this is exactly what Stuart Kavuma AKA DJ SlickStuart & Rogers Kitaka AKA DJ Roja have kept doing over the years!
From choosing to take Deejaying as main career over their their professional careers (Note that Roja is an Engineer & Stuart is an IT Technician) to defying the one man deejay affair and launching as a deejay Duo to birthing a DJ headlined show aswell as featuring artistes on their brand music projects among many other things.
DJ SlickStuart and Roja have beaten all odds to create a formidable force in the music industry. No success comes easy, but the duo’s progress over the years is as a result of playing their cards right.
We reminisce of the year 2014, when they staged their first season of the Mixtape party at the now defunct Club Venom, a venue soo small compared to the Kampala Serena Hotel, the party’s venue 8 years later – isn’t this true manifestation of consistency, patience, hardwork and Resilience?
In the midst of their Self belief and Realization story, the duo ventured into music by featuring artistes onto musical projects and they have kept momentum for over 5 years. They have outed over 20 projects since their debut into music and part of their music was compiled on their 2020 Album dubbed “Very Well“.
Their forever growing music catalogue that keeps getting their fans wild features various top artistes in the land like Jose Chameleone, Bebecool, King Saha, Ykee Benda, Rema, Allan Toniks, Lillian Mbabazi, Nutty Neithan, Winnie Nwagi among may other artistes.
Consistency is a key element in growing any brand and the DJ duo got this right with their annual Mixtape party where they play side by side while they keep their fans captivated.
Birthed in 2014, the Mixtape will this year return in its 8th Season after a 2 years hiatus due to COVID-19. Happening at the Kampala Serena Hotel – Victoria Hall on the 3rd of November, the party returns bigger and better like never before according to the DJ Duo.
“We decided to dare ourselves, improve on the production & also cater for a certain target audience that has not been attending our events” DJ Roja said in relation to the new venue!
Before Serena Hotel this year, the Mixtape party has been at previous venues like UMA Multi-Purpose Hall in 2019, Golf Course Hotel in 2017 and 2018, Centenary Park Poolside in 2016, Laftaz Lounge in 2015 and Club Venom in 2014.
