The Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hon. Norbert Mao, and his long-term partner, Beatrice Kayanja, marked a significant milestone in their relationship as they celebrated a vibrant Kukyala ceremony over the weekend. The event, which took place in Najjanakumbi, just on the outskirts of Kampala, saw Hon. Norbert Mao formally introduced to Ms. Kayanja’s family, following the Buganda tradition.
The Kukyala ceremony is the initial marital function in Buganda tradition, where the woman presents her partner to her family, signifying the commitment to spend the rest of their lives together. The private affair was attended by notable figures, including Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa and Member of Parliament Robert Mwesigwa Rukaari, along with close family members.
The next anticipated event on the horizon is the introduction ceremony, “Kwanjula,” the date of which is yet to be disclosed. Following this, the couple will proceed to tie the knot in marriage. While the dates for these upcoming functions remain undisclosed to the public, heartfelt congratulations are in order for Hon.
