President Museveni’s government has empowered musicians with 13 billion Ugandan shillings, which will be provided to them through loans.
Musician Pallaso says he is eagerly awaiting the money and can’t wait to receive notification of the amount he will receive.
The singer explained that this funding gives him something to smile about and that he is working with hope to receive more funds so he can invest more in his business.
“I can’t wait to receive the money because it’s a package to empower us, and it was approved by the government. I am happy that musicians have finally received something from the government,” he said in an interview with a local television station.
It was confirmed by State Minister for Micro Finance Haruna Kasolo that they funds shall be channeled through Uganda National Musicians Federation SACCO. However the law that guides SACCOs stipulates that for every shilling saved Government adds 250 shillings, so ideally the Federation SACCO needs to have a significant amount of savings to attract a reasonable ammonit of capitalization.
