Abtex Demands Compensation, Asks Alien Skin To Pay For Losses And Damages

Abbey Musinguzi, also known as Abtex, a well-known events promoter, is seeking redress from singer Alien Skin (Patrick Mulwana) for substantial damages after the abrupt cancellation of the Nkwacho Festival, initially slated for August 27, 2023, at Forest Park Resort, Buloba.

Through his legal representatives, Lunar Advocates, Abtex conveyed in a letter dated August 14 that a contract had been established, entailing a payment of sh100m, including a sh10m upfront deposit. The letter disclosed that Alien Skin received the initial deposit through Mobile Money installments, supervised by manager Musa Mawejje.

Unexpectedly, the festival was canceled days prior, resulting in financial losses for Abtex, as expenses were already incurred for venue, banners, and equipment.

Abtex now requires Alien Skin to reimburse sh71.5m within 7 days of receipt of the notice, covering losses and damages, in addition to sh6m as legal fees. This situation follows Alien’s previous concert organized by Abtex on June 9, 2023, at Freedom City, following a well-publicized incident with singer Pallaso.

Although Alien announced an alternate festival location, One Love Beach in Busabala, recent events highlight tension between the two parties, suggesting a tale far more complex than anticipated.
