National Theatre to hold World Music Day Celebrations Tonight

Music is that connection which brings people from different walks of life together. Its a way to connect the Heart with Hearts because love for music goes beyond differences and boundaries.

Because Music is Power, Every year on June 21 is World Music Day. This day was first organized and celebrated in France in 1982 by Jack Lange, the then French Minister of Culture. Allover the globe, World Music day is more than a day for musicians. It’s rather a great opportunity for them to show their talent to the world.

On the eve of World Music Day every year, many free concerts are held worldwide and ahead of this day on Tuesday 21st June, the Uganda National Cultural Center- UNCC in conjuction with National Culture Forum, Uganda Musicians Association French Embassy in Uganda, Alliance Française Kampala and Total Energies have organized celebrations at the National Theatre gardens.

The event will feature French-Senegalese group “Majnun & Black Magic Sofas” who will perform alongside a few local artistes such as Aliddeki Brian, The Police Band, Sara Vauclair Kibay, R’AFRICA243 and Hon. Racheal Magoola from the Afrigo Band.

The Celebrations will later in the evening fuse with the weekly Monday Jam Session, a creative experiential platform for musicians and music lovers to express themselves while promoting and developing their artistic craft. Entrance to the event is absolutely free and the general public is invited to join in at this festive atmosphere of music celebration and entertainment at the National Theatre starting at 5pm.
