Finally, the highly heated and controversial UMA Elections are happening today, 6th June 2022.
The elections which are online Kickstarted a few minutes after 10 oclock and were officially launched by Geoffrey Ekongot, the UMA Electoral committee chairman in company of Mrs Sophie Gombya and Ms Halima Namakula who are Policy Board members at UMA.
“The Provisional results will be read twice at 12:30pm and 3pm before we announce the final results after 5pm” Ekongot said!
The online voting system that UMA is using in this election was co-developed with the National Information Technology Authority (NITA-U) and both institutions held a press conference to demonstrate this Digital Voting System to the candidates, UMA members and the media.
The UMA Electoral journey started on Monday 11th April with the nomination of candidates. There after campaigns Kickstarted aswell as candidate debates. In a rather shocking turn of events, the elections that were earlier scheduled to happen on Monday 23rd May 2022 were pushed 2 weeks further to today.
