It’s now a public secret that Senegalese – American singer Akon is in the country. His presence was publicly known after a picure of him and Nigerian singer Fireboy at Kampala Serena hotel appeared on social media, Fireboy was here for a show last weekend.
Our close sources have revealed to us that Akon, real name Damala Badara Akon returned quietly to Uganda on Friday evening upon an invitation of Uganda’s business tycoon, Hamis Kiggundu aka Ham. It is said that from Entebbe International Airport, Akon was driven direct to Ham’s multibillion mansion along Lake Victoria shores where he is staying and had Eid celebrations from.
Akon was last in Uganda in the year 2021 to attend President Museveni’s inauguration ceremony upon his reelection for a 6th term as President. This time round its not known why the investor’s visitation was not organised by government as it has been the case in the past trips.
Credible sources have revealed that Akon could be planning to abandon the government project of setting up the Akon city to engaging in private dealings with the private individuals like Ham with whom they can partner to run several investments.
Despite government allocating Akon land equivalent 10 1 square mile, no interest has been publicly shown in visiting the land by the singer and investor. Akon last met with Ham months ago in Dubai during the Dubai Expo.
