YOUTH INCLUSION: Muhoozi Advises Govt to invest in Sports & Entertainment

On Saturday 23rd April 2022, Uganda was “on fire” as described by Lieutenant General Muhoozi Kainerugaba ahead of his 48th Birthday celebrations.

Speaking at Lugogo Cricket Oval, the main celebrations ground on Saturday evening, Gen Muhoozi asked government to invest more in sports and the arts industry to benefit more youths in the country.

“Two things I know about youths is that they like sports and entertainments. We need to invest in sports facilities in this country. The youths have too much energy that if you leave them idle, they will become a problem .Let us rehabilitate our stadiums and give youths what they want. Let us invest in music and film industry. All the arts will go a long way in solving the problems of youths,” he said.

Gen Muhoozi also told a mammoth crowd of supporters that the event has shown there is a big number of youths in the country that he said ought to be put at the forefront by government in its programs.

“This MK@48 movement is teaching Ugandans is that there is a very strong and vibrant youth movement in this country. It is the strongest force in Uganda right now. All they need is serious attention. It is imperative that all of us in all positions of leadership recognize it and start solving the problems of the youths and look into their interests.,” Lt Gen Muhoozi said amid cheer from his supporters.

The Commander of the Land Forces in the UPDF who also doubles as the Special Presidential Advisor on Special Operations said it is high time government looked into the issues affecting youths because at this point in this day and age, they have made their voices heard. On many people that claimed that the first son was behind his own birthday, Muhoozi said a group of youths organized the event and asked him to attend, emphasizing that he was not part of the organization.

“They did it on their own and just informed me to come and attend.”

The celebrations have pushed to day two and at the time of filing this story, there is a state dinner at State House in Entebbe to celebrate Lt Gen Muhoozi’s 48th birthday later today. The dinner is expected to have a number of diplomats and top high ranking officials in attendance! Rwanda President H.E Paul Kagame is among those and he arrived earlier on Sunday afternoon!
