Government to offer Chairman NCF and President UMA with V8 Cars

Powerful lobbbyists under NCF – National Culture Forum are lobbying the government powers to offer the Chairman of NCF and President of UMA with V8 cars to match with the status of their offices and responsibilities.

NCF has membership of over 61 associations but has only one car, a drone which can’t fully help them with maximum executions of their countrywide operations. UMA on the other hand has members allover the country and its the biggest association with most members under NCF.

The National Culture Forum-NCF is a private sector led body registered as a non-profit company limited by guarantee with a board of 9 members, which is suppprted by a Secretariat. The National Culture Policy 2006 provides for it as the private sector led body to promote the participation of civil society and the private sector in the implementation of the culture policy. It was revujenated in 2019 and incorporated in 2021 as the apex body for all associations in the Culture and Creative Industries.

In other news, Uganda Musician’s Association Announced the Launch of its Election Nomination at the National Theatre in Kampala.

During the press conference on Monday afternoon, the UMA Policy Board announced the launch of
the nomination process. It was revealed that nomination forms shall be available for pick up from the UMA office at
National Theatre and Online via the UMA website 9umaonline.org, starting Wednesday 30th March
2022.

Aspiring candidates shall be required to be seconded by no less than 10 UMA registered members who shall validate their acceptance by signing the nomination form. Their nomination forms shall then be delivered to the electoral committee at least 48 hours prior to the last day of returning forms.

There are four lots of positions for office and these include the Executive Board, Cluster Representatives, Genre Representatives, and Regional Representatives.
The first lot of positions available are for Executive Board officers and these include; President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The second lot of positions available are the Cluster Representatives which include Youth affairs Representative, Women affairs Representative.

The third lot of positions is the Genre Representatives which include; Kadongo kamu & Cultural music Representative, Gospel/ Religious Music Representative, Band Music Representative, Dancehall Music Representative, Hip-hop Music Representative and the last lot is the Regional Representatives.
