Doreen Mirembe shines at Mashariki Film Festival

Ugandan Film maker and Dentist Doreen Mirembe left Mashariki Film Festival feeling proud after her film Kafa Coh scooped an award. 

The 2022 Mashariki Africa Film Festival was held under the theme “Afro futurism” in celebration of African language  and culture through telling stories that bring Africa as a protagonist. It was also a celebration of showing how African filmmakers are capable of dreaming and courageously speaking out for the future of the continent. It ran from November 26 to December 2, with awarding of outstanding creatives and there works.

The political Drama was awarded the Signis award as the best film at the 8th edition of the seven days festival. 

A Signis award is given by the Jury members after considering a number of things including, how the film will perform at an international level, Justice, Human Rights, among others.

The film was also screened at century cinemax Kigali, during the festival.
