Award-winning Nigerian singer, Davido, has so far received a staggering amount of N60million ($145k 0r 507 Ug billion shs) after friends yielded his request of soliciting for funds on his official twitter page, which initially stirred curiosity among his fans.
The music star whose birthday is on Sunday, November 21, this Wednesday, took to his social media handles, asking those whom he had collaborated with to make a hit song to send him money.
The singer also disclosed that he was soliciting funds to facilitate the clearance of his Rolls Royce, the British automobile brand, at the seaport.
Sharing account numbers to which the payments should be made, Davido later said he was able to pull up to N60million in five hour.
Fans and followers thought the multi-award-winning songwriter was joking when he posted an Instagram story calling on those, he has helped in the music industry to send him a million naira
In an Instagram story video he said, ‘We rise by lifting others abi? Me I don rise dey lifting others for the past 100 years. So, I want to know who my friends are. All of my friends one onemillion Naira. They said we are 30 BG. If you don’t send your own. You out of here. You are gone.’

Top Nigerian entertainers such as Mr. Eazy, Teni, Chike, Adekunle Gold, Perruzi, Ikorodu, among others sent in their millions to the singer’s account. Now in Uganda, singer Pallaso who once collaborated with Davido on “Twatoba” in 2014 decided to make use of this example to solicit some money from his friends and fans for a good cause.
Ugandans are one lot that never let a trend go by them without experimenting with it.
When the trend is beyond their reach or comprehension, trust Ugandans to give it a twist that is at least applicable to the Ugandan context.
Just minutes after Davido’s game changing move, Pallasotook to his twitter rallying his fans to contribute towards a shs100 million goal in a bid to rescue his range rover from URA.
Right below is Pallaso’s tweet:
