Outspoken social and political analyst, Frank Gashumba, has once again cast doubts on musician turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, and his aspirations of becoming Uganda’s next president.

During an appearance on NBS TV’s Barometer program, Gashumba emphasized his skepticism, asserting that Bobi Wine’s entry into politics wasn’t driven by a genuine desire to oust President Museveni. Instead, he argued that Bobi Wine’s primary motivation was to advance his music career, utilizing the National Unity Platform (NUP) merely as a vehicle for personal gain.

Gashumba labeled Bobi Wine as an opportunist, cautioning Ugandans against being misled by his purported intentions to challenge the current government. He went further to accuse Bobi Wine of deceptive tactics, including painting negative images of fellow legislators to garner sympathy from supporters.

Moreover, Gashumba alleged financial irregularities within NUP, claiming that the party receives government funding without proper accountability. He pointed out instances where key members allegedly haven’t seen the land title for the party’s offices.

This isn’t the first time Gashumba has criticized Bobi Wine and NUP. In 2022, he accused the party’s top officials of being double-agents, deceiving the public into believing they were a genuine opposition force aiming to unseat President Museveni.
